Adjectives and agreement

The rules

A Lithuanian adjective always agrees with its noun in gender, number and case. That is why the one word naujas turns up as nauja, naują, naujo, naujame. The good news is that the adjective ending usually echoes the noun ending, so it pays to learn the two together as a pair.

Speaking practice

Play

Play as often as you like

  1. —Kokio buto jūs ieškote?

  2. —Norėčiau nedidelio dviejų kambarių buto netoli centro.

  3. —Turiu vieną naują ir vieną senesnį. Naujas šviesesnis, bet brangesnis.

  4. —O kiek brangesnis?

  5. —Šimtu eurų per mėnesį.

  6. —Tada norėčiau pamatyti senesnį.

Dabar pasakykite patys — now say it yourself. Nothing is recorded and nothing is graded; the exam's speaking part is a live interview, so this is here to be imitated out loud.
