Plural cases

The rules

You already know the singular cases, but every day you also talk about many things: documents, children, shops. The plural endings follow a clear system, and one of them is easy: the genitive plural of every declinable noun ends in -ų (namų, knygų, parduotuvių). You need it after the numbers 10 to 20, after round numbers (30, 100, 200) and after kiek (how many), daug (many), mažai (few) and keletas (several). An exam text will say, for example: Salėje telpa du šimtai žmonių, the hall holds two hundred people.
