“Any citizen of the Republic of Lithuania who meets the conditions set forth in the first paragraph of Article 78 and collects the signatures of not less than 20,000 voters shall be registered as a presidential candidate. The number of candidates for the post of the President of the Republic shall not be limited.”
A citizen who meets the requirements of Article 78 and has collected at least 20,000 voter signatures is registered as a presidential candidate. There is no limit on the number of candidates.
Before a presidential election, supporters collect signatures on the street and in shopping centres: without 20,000 signatures a person does not appear on the ballot.
Memorise the number 20,000 – the voter signatures a presidential candidate needs. You may also be asked whether the number of candidates is limited (it is not).
